There are many so-called mailing lists for musical discussions. Most are very specific in their subject matter.  The one I prefer most is a true forum for general musical interest, is worldwide, is self-policing by its members and attracts participation by top musical figures.  It is the (misnamed) DJML - Dixieland Jazz Mailing List - available through clicking the graphic to the left in either interactive or digest formats.
